What isDANACTIVETM?

It's your daily pick-me-up probiotic drink to help strengthen your natural defenses.

Every delicious bottle of DanActive helps strengthen your natural defenses and contains 10 billion friendly L.Casei Defensis bacteria. L.Casei Defensis is a probiotic culture that has beneficial effects on the composition of intestinal microbiota. This friendly bacteria was selected out of hundreds by the Danone Research Centre because of its specific properties — L.Casei Defensis is resistant to stomach acid so it reaches the gut alive in a high concentration where about 70% of your immune system is located.

DanActive helps maintain a natural protective barrier

The intestinal lining is where all the action happens — not only does it absorb the nutrients from your food, it also serves as a barrier against harmful bacteria. Your gut has over 400 different species of microbiota or approximately 100,000 billion bacteria. By drinking DanActive with L.Casei Defensis you will provide good probiotic bacteria that helps to make life harder for the bad ones. This active bacteria can have a positive effect on the balance and metabolism of the intestinal microflora, the intestinal lining barrier and the intestinal immune system that contains almost 70 percent of the immune cells found in our body.

Nature has given the human body a complex system of barrier and defense mechanisms to protect us from illness and disease. Nevertheless, the body's natural defenses system can undergo stress during different life stages and is often influenced by the way we live. An active lifestyle, physical exercise, maintaining a balanced diet and ensuring sufficient rest go a long way for your health. A bottle of this probiotic drink everyday can also help strengthen the body's natural defenses.

Natural defenses

Not once, not twice, but three times! Discover how DanActive can benefit your intestines on three major levels including the intestinal microflora, the intestinal lining barrier and the intestinal immune system.

Almost 70 percent of our immune system is located in our intestine. Often underestimated, this portion of the alimentary canal plays different roles that take on major importance in maintaining our health, in particular:

The digestion of food
The intestine is a filter that absorbs nutrients our body needs to survive.

Protection
It rejects undesirable elements, such as harmful bacteria.

In addition, the intestine contains more than 100 trillion friendly bacteria that work closely with the rest of the body. These bacteria assume the role of defense against harmful bacteria. For each of us, they represent precious and essential allies; they compose our intestinal flora.

The intestine’s three defenders

The intestine constitutes a true barrier between the external environment and our body. This barrier extends more than seven meters, with a surface area comparable to that of a tennis court, some 200 square meters! Our intestine's defense system is composed of three defenders: the intestinal microflora, the intestinal lining and the intestinal immune system. DanActive contains 10 billion L. casei Defensis bacteria per bottle and act upon the intestine's three natural defenders:

1. The intestinal microflora
The intestinal microflora contains a substantial number of bacteria – about 100 trillion or so – among which more than 400 species can be found. This microflora has a beneficial effect on the body's natural defenses by combating harmful bacteria. Daily consumption of DanActive helps boost the number of helpful bacteria for the microflora. We also know that, both directly and indirectly, our microflora fight harmful bacteria.

2. The intestinal lining
The intestinal lining covers a wide area; this wall serves as a transfer agent that facilitates the absorption of nutrients and helps our body defend itself. By adding L.Casei Defensis to the existing microflora, DanActive can help this barrier to fulfill its role as a barrier against unwanted bacteria.

3. The immune system
Our intestinal immune system contains almost 70 percent of the immune cells found in our body. Herein lies the third key to DanActive's effects. DanActive contains 10 billion L. casei Defensis bacteria, which go to work in the gut where about 70% of your immune system is located.

FAQ

What are probiotic micro-organisms?

A committee of experts convened by the FAO (Food and Agricultural Organisation) and WHO (World Health Organisation) have defined probiotics as "live microorganisms which, when ingested in adequate amounts, confer a health benefit on the host". This definition, adopted by other groups such as the International Life Science Institutes (ILSI), has been extended to probiotic food: "a food containing live micro-organisms in a sufficient quantity, throughout the shelf life of the product, that have beneficial effects on the health of the host". Live micro-organisms can be yeast or bacteria, where each is defined by a specific strain name and registered in an international culture collection.
